S.F. Middleton passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at his home. A retired master carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union Local 1098, he was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Franklin County, Miss., where he was born on May 11, 1918, in a logging camp. His greatest joy was his garden. He was also an avid sportsman and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a World War II veteran. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Arrangements entrusted to Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrtle Bouquet Middleton; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Debra. Middleton, of Walker; a daughter and son in-law, Cynthia and Preston Brown, of Baton Rouge; a sister, Marguerite Reid, of Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Carl E. Spiers, Jr., of Denham Springs; two granddaughters, Stacie Lynn Landry and husband Brent and Ginger Ann Middleton, all of Walker; and two great-grandsons, Collin and Ashton Landry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah A. Spiers; his father, James Thomas Middleton; a sister, Doris Partin; and a brother, James Thomas Middleton, Jr.
