It is with great sorrow that the children of Maria Benincasa announce her passing on March 1, 2002 dying peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side.

Marietta was born on September 7, 1920 in Dipignano, Calabria, Italy. In 1939 Marietta married our father Giuseppe Benincasa and celebrated 59 years of marriage shortly before he passed away in 1998.

Marietta was also predeceased by an infant son Luigi, her mother and father Teresina and Vincenzo Miceli, brothers in infancy Tonino and Mario, sister in infancy Antonetta, brother Francesco during the war and Giovanni in 1990 and son-in-law Antonio Farno, and many of her brother and sister-in-laws.

She is survived by her children Rita (Henry) Enns, Luigi (Phylis), Vincenzo (Barbara), Frank (Elizabeth), Salvatore (Kathy), Silvana (Luis) Alves, 12 grandchildren; Joe (Cindy) Farno, Robert (Heather) Benincasa, Rossana (Dave) Edwardson, Maria (Ken) Cunningham, Adam, Linda, Jana, James, Jesse, Brody, Shelly and 6 great grandchildren Haylie, Riley, Rebecca, Kevin, Brittney and Antonia. Also survived by her step mother Guiseppina Miceli in Italy, her brothers Vittorio Miceli, Luigi (Maria) Miceli, Salvatore (Immacolata) Miceli, sisters Gilda (Giovanni) Gallo, Ida (Ottorino) Farno, Antonetta Michele) Carpino and sister-in-laws Maria Miceli, Angelina Bruno, and special brother-in-law Ettore (Gina) Benincasa. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Mom's joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She loved to feed everyone who came into her home; making sure no one left hungry. She knitted sweaters, socks and blankets for everyone. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, going to church on Sundays and her garden in the summer. But mainly you would find her in her kitchen cooking, baking or canning.

She was an inspiration in our lives and a pillar of strength, love and hope. We are blessed to having had her in our lives and will miss her terribly. We thank the lord for the loan of one of his angels, to care for us and others that her life had touched, and for taking her home to heaven so quickly.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Maria Benincasa will be held on Wed March 6, 2002 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma, at 8:50 to St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church for The Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 AM. After the reception, a private family Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends will be held on Tuesday March 5, 2002 from 6-9PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL. The Vigil Service will take place at 7PM on Tuesday in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL.

If friends so desire donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Shelter House would be greatly appreciated. A donation in memory of Mrs. Maria Benincasa has been made to the Shelter House by Everest of Thunder Bay.

We miss thee from our home, dear
We miss thee from thy place.
A shadow oer our life is cast.
We miss the sunshine of thy face
We miss thy kind and willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care.
Our home is dark without thee
We miss thee everywhere.
