Hannah was the oldest of eight children born to Jonathan Metcalf and Hannah Clark of Wrentham and Medway, Mass. She was married in Medway (int. 19 March 1748) to Samuel HAYWARD, b. 1 March 1723/4, d. 1 Feb 1775/6 in his 52nd year, the son of Samuel and Hannah Hayward of Mendon, Mass.
Samuel and Hannah had seven children with births recorded in Medway from 1749/50 to 1770. Hannah was certainly living in 1787 when her daughter Hannah was called "Hannah Jr." in her marriage intention. This makes it realistic that the 1817 death of "Mrs. Hayward" applies to Hannah. Samuel has a surviving grave marker in this cemetery, but Hannah does not.
