Jean [Merrell] Mitchell Davis, 82, of Athens died Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Athens-Limestone Hospital.
The funeral is at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 4, at McConnell Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hargrove officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery.
Jean Mitchell Davis was born July 17, 1931, in Little Rock, Arkansas to William Vanleer Merrell and Annie Gatlin Merrell.
She was a member of the Cash Point Baptist Church. In her early career she was co-owner of Nelson Burgers. Mrs. Davis retired to help raise her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert (Terrapin) Davis.
Survivors include one son, Michael Mitchell; and one daughter, Phyllis Grela, both of Athens; one stepdaughter, Lisa Holland of Huntsville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
