Geraldine "Jerry" Merrell, 82, of Pearland and formerly of Whitney passed away in a Houston hospital on December 29, 2004.
She was the daughter of Major Green and Rena Mae (Barnard) Biship. She was raised in Blythsville, Arkansas.
She married Thomas U. Farmer in 1940 and he preceded her in death in June, 1976. They lived in St. Louis for several years before moving to Dallas in 1949. She was employed by the Texas Book Bindery for 10 years as a typesetter. They lived in Grand Prairie before moving to Whitney in 1974.
She married Henry "Rip" Merrell, Jr. on May 17, 1979 in San Angelo and they moved to Whitney in 1990.He preceded her in death in Jauary of 1999.
She was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney and a member of Eastern Star in Cockrell Hill, Texas.
For the past four years she lived with her granddaughter, Norma Jean McKinght.
Survivors include her children, Donald C. Farmer and wife, Cheryl of Tucson, AZ, Mary Jo Holley and husband, Bill of Whitney, Carol Ann Hooper and husband, Kenny of Mesquite, Tomie Dean Sibley of Grand Prairie; sister, Margaret Burnett and husband, Dennis of Lancaster, CA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
