Daughter of Alexander "Zander" Mercer (1836-1918) & Martha Ann Melvina Turner-Mercer (1839-1910). Her parents were from Butler County, Alabama before migrating to Texas. A number of their children (Ida's siblings) were born in Alabama. Alexander and Melvina were living in the Luling, Caldwell County, Texas when they died and are bureid in the Mercer Family Cemetery (as are a number of Ida's family) in Luling, Texas.
Ida married Samuel "Sam" Mack Blackwell on January 18, 1895 in Caldwell County, Texas. They had at least 7 known children. Her sister Mary Delilah Mercer married John Jesse Blackwell (brother of Sam Mack Blackwell).
Sam died in April 1960 and Ida died shortly thereafter in September 1960 after 3 years having serious medical problems.
