Mrs. Alfred Mercer Rites to be Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred Mercer of Gonzales will be held at 3 Wednesday afternoon at the Mineral Springs Baptist church at Joliet with the Rev. M. T. Jenkins of the East Side Baptist church and Rev. Burnside, pastor at the Mineral Springs church, officiating. Mrs. Mercer died at 1:45 Tuesday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred C. Hughes, Staples, Texas.
Pierce funeral home at Luling is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Mercer cemetery.

Final Rites Held For Mrs. Martha Mercer

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Mercer, 86, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Mineral Springs Baptist church by the Rev. George Burnside.
Mrs. Mercer was born Oct. 26, 1863 and married Alfred Mercer on Aug. 14, 1884. They lived on their farm northwest of Liling until oil was discovered there, when they moved to Gonzales.
Surviving are six children, W. D. Mercer, Gonzales; Mrs. Cora Hill, San Marcos; Mrs. Emma Hughes, Staples; Mrs. Ethel Winegeart, Gonzales; Leon Mercer, Gonzales. Also surviving were 23 grandchildren,39 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Roy and Fred Mercer, Vearl and Archie Winegeart, Virgil Hughes, and Alton Hill.
