BARK RIVER - Ronald D. "Mini" Menard, 72, of 3343 U.S. 2 and 41, Bark River (Hyde), passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the Christian Park Health Care Center.
Ron was born in Escanaba on Dec. 31, 1938, the son of Harry and Alice (Green) Menard. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Escanaba High School Class of 1956. He was a resident of the Escanaba area most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force following high school. Ron loved to joke around and was a jack of all trades. When someone needed something to be done they would call Ron and he would fix it. Ron was employed with Harnischfeger until 1982 and was employed by Northern Motors rebuilders and Marinette Marine. He was a self-employed repairman.
Ronald D. Menard was married to Dawn Ahrendt on Nov. 9, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Evanston, Ill. He was Catholic by faith.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carol Sue Menard of Gladstone, Melody (Jason) Nachtwey of Appleton, Wis.; three sons, Cevin Menard of South Beloit, Ill., John (Charla) Menard of Sheboygan, Wis., Mark Menard of Hyde; seven grandchildren, Bradley, Parker, Samuel, Olivia, Mickey, Joseph and Zackery; two brothers, Dwaine (Cathy) Menard of Wells, Steve (Patty) Menard of Escanaba; three sisters, Sandra Brunette of Gladstone, Jean Menard of Escanaba and Cindy (Gary) Ellison of Escanaba.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dawn; brother, Harry Jr.; and two sisters, Karen and Linda.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans Council services will be held at 6 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
