Joyce grew up in Troy and went to school in Winfield. Joyce and Lonnie met while attending Winfield School and continued to follow their dreams together. Joyce was a homemaker, raised six kids, spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed woodworking, painting crafts, crocheting afghans, going to the Ameristar Casino and playing scratch offs. Joyce loved taking her grandchildren on picnics and then to the pool and she made the best chicken-n-dumplings.
She is survived by her six children, Lonna Sadler (Larry) of Troy, Lonnie Brawley, Jr. of Troy, Ronna Lagemann (Gary) of Hawk Point, Bonnie Pyle (John) of Troy, Ronnie Brawley (Paula) of Wentzville and Jodie Brawley (Stacey) of Silex; siblings, Nancy Colbert (Charlie) of Troy, Carol Vollmer of Hawk Point, Linda Whitlock (Rick) of St. Charles, Donna Brown (Mike) of Wentzville and Vernon Melton, Jr. of Warrenton; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one on the way, nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Mildred Melton, her husband, Lonnie Brawley Sr., her two grandchildren, Kenneth Brawley and Krystal Brawley and her great-granddaughter, Kaileigh Sutherland.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Home/ Troy Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Home/ Troy Chapel. Officiating the service will be Pastor Joey Owen. Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ellington, Missouri.
