Darlene A. Cardwell, 65, of Oregon died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at her daughter's home in Solway. The funeral will be at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
She was born July 29, 1937, at Bemidji to Henry and Altha (Hanner) Melhorn. Darlene was born the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings are Elsie Mae (Stauty) (B: 5-28-1929), Robert Henry (B: 7-23-1030 D: 4-12-2017) and Richard Edgar (B: 9-11-1933). Darlene attended Northern School, Northern Township, Baltrami County, Bemidji, Minnesota. She had also earned a Master Gardener Degree later in life.
Darlene had been married 3 times. She married Edward Verke on January 5,1956 and they divorced on January 29, 1974. And through this marriage they have 6 children; Cindy Lynne (Aug. 28, 1956), Ted Allyn (Sept. 25, 1957, Rodney Edward (May 10, 1959, Curtis N. (Nov. 8, 1960) Jody Rae (Apr. 14, 1962) and Tammi Jo (Apr. 2, 1067). She married her second husband, Dennis Prince, on Aug.19,1977. Dennis passed away in April 1986 in Bemidji, Minnesota leaving her a widow. On Dec 28, 1986 Darlene married her third husband Robert A Caldwell and remained married to him until her death.
