MOTHER OF TEN CALLED BEYOND
DEATH CAME AS R4ESULT OF OBSTRUCTION IN THROAT STOPPING OFF PASSAGE
One of the saddest death to come in our valley for some time, came last Saturday when Mrs Soren C. Peterson of Tygee passed away from the effects of being unable to eat or drink anything.
When Mrs Peterson was a baby she ate some lye which so affected her throat that particles of food would lodge in the passage and prevent her from eating or drinking. Hundreds of times she has suffered form this cause and several times she has been unable to eat or drink for several days at a time. During her last illness she was not able to take nourishment for 13 days.
Mrs Peterson is the mother of 10 children and 7 grandchildren. She came with her husband to Star Valley in 1903 and they lived in Auburn for 5 years and then moved to their present home in Tygee.
Funeral services were held in Auburn ward last Sunday, and the house was filled with her friends and neighbors who came to pay their last respects to the departed.
Many floral offerings adorned the casket, during the funeral, after which she was laid to rest in the Auburn cemetery.
The bereaved family have our deepest sympathy.
Funeral serves were held in the Auburn ward for Mrs Soren C. Peterson of Tygee, Idaho. Mrs Peterson died at her home Saturday morning August 16 leaving her husband and 10 children to mourn her loss. When a small child she accidentally ate some lye which affected her throat and has troubled her ever since. particles of food would sometimes lodge in the affected part of her throat which would prevent her eating or drinking. This was the immediate cause of her death. A large crowd of people gathered to pay their last respects to the departed. Many from our adjoining towns and a goodly number of her relatives from Bear Lake and Ucon, Idaho.
Many eulogies and consoling remarks were given by the speakers, who were our former bishop, Heman Hyde, Lars J. Halling and a brother Cranney of Logan Utah, brother of frank Cranney and Bishop D.T. Wood.
Russell Miller very feelingly sang the song "Mother McRae".
The casket was almost buried in flowers.
Be cheerful and pleasant where ever you roam.
Twill ever your pleasure renew.
Don't sigh nor look blue if perchance you are poor
But sunshine on other lives shed.
Give a flower to those you meet on your way.
Don't wait till after they're dead.
