She was born December 24, 1914, Hartland, ND, the daughter of Ted and Ida (Ronglien) Mehus. She was reared and educated in the Berthold and Hartland areas.
She was once married to Max Harris. Gladys lived in Des Lacs for a time and worked at the Des Lacs High School as a cook and a custodian, Russell's Mills, Speedway Cabin's, Trinity Hospital and Jim Hill High School where she was a cook at both. Gladys moved to Minot in 1971. While living in Minot Gladys worked for the Ward County Historical Society, Henry Towers as a cook for the Meals on Wheels program and the Lutheran Aide Home Care. After retiring from the Ward County Historical Society, Gladys volunteered there during the North Dakota State Fair.
She was a member of the Des Lacs Methodist Church, the Society of Christian Women, and the Homemakers Club all Des Lacs.
Funeral Service: Thursday, July 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Minot
Visitation: Wednesday, July 10, 2002, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park.
