Funeral services for Jim Mehaffey will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lisa Perkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Michael Mehaffey, Chris Stephens, Barry Fontaine, Chris Yancey, Richard Yancey, and Rodney Layman, serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mehaffey died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Texoma Health Care Center at the age of 88.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, from 6-8 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.

Jim was born February 12, 1929 in Gorman, Texas to the late Rodolph and Pauline (Eppler) Mehaffey. He was raised and a graduate of Gorman High School. He attended Baylor University and Southern Methodist University. Jim married the love of his life when he met and married Jacqueline Bland in August, 1949. Jim was a successful salesman in Mt. Pleasant and was very active with the Chamber of Commerce and Republican Party.

They later moved to Sherman and started their own business, Breathco Medi Serv over twenty years. Jim was a risk taker and a world traveler. He felt education was very important and established scholarships at Grayson College. Jim was a very generous man and giving financially to different programs and organizations. Jim and Jacqueline have been active and involved members of Covenant Presbyterian Church since 1969. They enjoyed attending the Sherman Symphony Orchestra, the Community Players Club, and he fought for the underdog.

Mr. Mehaffey was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark ‘Bland’ Mehaffey; grandson, Mark Mehaffey; son-in-law, Richard Ferguson; and brothers, Jerry and Joe Mehaffey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline, of almost 68 years; daughter, Michelle Ferguson of Sherman; grandchildren, Laura Yancey and husband Richard of Sherman, Darah Stephens and husband Chris of Sherman, Kristi Mehaffey of Dallas, Billy Wayne Schroder of Killeen, Michael Mehaffey of Sherman, and Madison Ferguson of Sherman; great-grandchildren, Chris Yancey, Kylee Yancey, Camden Stephens, Case Stephens, and Killian Schroder; one sister, Judy Mehaffey of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to the R.C. and Pauline Eppler Mehaffey Memorial Scholarship and mailed to Grayson College Foundation 6101 Grayson Drive Denison, TX 75020.
