Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Neomi L. Mefford left this world on July 3, 2002 surrounded by her family.
Neomi was born on February 27, 1926 to Joe and Mary Leiting in Randolph, Nebraska.
In 1956 she moved to Salt Lake City with her husband Pete Mefford.
She was a dedicated employee of Mountain Bell and retired after 27 years of faithful service. Following her retirement she was hard to keep up with! Neomi enjoyed learning how to ski with her daughters and her sons-in-law, water skiing, golfing and bowled on various women's leagues. The true joy of her life was time spent participating in many school and sporting events of her children and grandchildren.
Neomi was a caring sister to Marvene Gubbels (Merle), Phyllis Denney (Harold), Marge Leiting, and brother Joe Leiting (Judy). She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Neomi was a wonderful mother and is survived by her four daughters, Vickie McMillin (Van), Diana Ward, Pamela Horne (Tom), and Cheryl Jones (Marc). Mom was a very special grandmother to Casey, Chris, Adam, and Blake and she was a compassionate caring friend to many.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Pete Mefford.
Funeral services in celebration of her life and devotion to her Catholic faith will begin with a viewing and Rosary on Sunday the 7th of July at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 1375 Spring Lane. Friends and family may call from 5:00 - 6:00 PM with a Rosary to follow. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday the 8th of July at 10:30 AM at St Vincent's de Paul. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery 4th Avenue and "T".
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzeimer's Association of Utah in Neomi's name.
Our family wishes to thank Dr Steven Jepson for his gentle care, kindness and unfailing support to our family and mom. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Crossland Care Center and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Neomi's cheerful friendly voice will be missed by many. She may be out of sight but she will never be out of the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved her ... FOLLOW THROUGH!
