Edwena Meek Mallory
Mrs. Edwena Meek Mallory, 88, of Corinth, formerly of Goodman, MS., died of heart failure Wednesday at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, MS.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Goodman United Methodist Church with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Officiating ministers were the Reverend Steve McDonald of Corinth and the Reverend J. R. Hall of Goodman. Southern Funeral Home of Durant was in charge.
Mrs. Mallory was a native of Goodman, a daughter of William Edward and Ella Hutchison Meek and the widow of William Lee Mallory. She served for many years as librarian for the town of Goodman and as a music teacher. Mrs. Mallory was a member of First United Methodist Church of Corinth and a former member of Goodman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sara Mallory Ellington of Corinth; one step-daughter, Mrs. Opalee Mallory Smith of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Gwendolyn Meek Hammett of Lexington; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two nephews and five nieces.
Pallbearers were Thad Pratt, Harold Hammett, Jr., Dick Atkinson, Mark Bloodworth, Gregg Brett and Boyd Kellum.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Albin, Cecil Clements, Bill Donald, Charles Donald and Billy Parker.
