Maxie Lee Meek Overton, 80, of Warren, died Tuesday at Bradley County Medical Center.

She was born July 16, 1924, at Rye, a daughter of the late Albert Noral Meek and Vira Ellen McMahon Meek.

She was manager of Granny's House Day Care at Pasadena, Texas.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church at Warren, where she was a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Overton, whom she married on Dec. 18, 1943; one daughter, Margie Lenora Leach; and two brothers, Verner Meek and Ben Meek.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda DeGroot of Peru, Ill., Henrietta Carter of Warren and Jane McDonald of Houston; one brother, Edwin Meek of Myrtle Point, Ore.; one sister, Joan Ruffiner of North Little Rock; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
