Cumberland, MD- Arlene Cecelia Foreback, 81, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her home.
Born December 9, 1933 in Great Cacapon, WV, she was the daughter of the late Glenn Edward Mechem and Virginia Hazel (Henry) Mechem.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Glenn “Jim” Mechem and Clyde “Pete” Mechem; a nephew, Mark A. Mechem; and, a brother-in-law, Earl A. Platt.
Arlene was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School, Class of 1951. She attended Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Foreback was a 60 year member of McKinley Chapter #12, O.E.S. and a charter member of N.A.R.V.R.E., Unit #103.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harry J. Foreback; two daughters, Elaine Reuschlein, and husband John, and Vicki Larrick, and husband David, all of Cumberland; her grandson, Clinton D. Larrick, and fiancé Michelle Turner; two sisters, Shirley A. Platt, Maple Grove, MN, and Kathy J. Montzka, and husband Will, Brooklyn Park, MN; an aunt, Marguerite Young, Berkeley Springs, WV; a sister-in-law, Nancy Mechem, Cumberland; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Lewis Ridgeway, Cumberland; and, many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. McKinley Chapter #12, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Keith Aguila, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Mechem, Duane Platt, Todd Mechem, Bill Judy, David Felker, and Robb Cockey. Memorial contributions may be made to either Salem Children's Trust, 605 Salem Drive, Frostburg, MD 21532; Grace Baptist Church, 211 Greene Street, Cumberland, MD 21502; or, to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the WMHS Hospice for the kind, compassionate care they provided to Mrs. Foreback and the family.
