Mrs. Tholene McNair Kelley, age 94, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Willow Pond Assisted Living in Statesboro, Georgia. Born in Wrens, GA, Mrs. Kelley graduated from Stapleton High School and then graduated from Florida Business College in Gainesville, GA. She soon married Arthur Theodore Kelley and they resided in Charleston, SC where she was a bookkeeper at the Charleston Naval Yard for five years. In 1946, she and her husband moved to Mullins, SC and purchased Mullins Welding and Machine Works, which they owned and operated until their retirement. Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Mullins First Baptist Church where she was a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class and the Neil Young WMU Group. She was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club for many years. Mrs. Kelley was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed gardening and needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Theodore Kelley. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Kelley Hitt and Edward Hitt of Statesboro, GA; a son, Bryan Kelley of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren, Edward Hitt, Jr. (Jessi) of Sebastian, FL, Nancy Hitt McPherson of Thomasville, GA, Andrew Hitt of Statesboro, GA, Cecilia Hanna (Troy) of Spartanburg, SC and Bryan Kelley, Jr. of Greenville, SC; seven great grandchildren and a sister, Jane Holley of North Augusta, SC. Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with entombment in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
