Ruth McNair Broome, 96, formerly of Due West, widow of William Raymond Broome, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Born in Abbeville County, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Lucinda Hanvey McNair. She was a member of the Honea Path Presbyterian Church and formerly worked with Belk's and the Royal Cleaners.

Surviving are one son, John W. Broome of Calhoun Falls; daughter, Juanita Braun of Aiken, brothers, George McNair of Laurens and Albert McNair of Allendale; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Buddy Broome; one daughter, Mildred Baqui; and two brothers, Edward McNair and Oscar McNair.

Services are at 4 p.m. Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path by the Rev. Lee Kennerly; burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. A memorial service will be held at Willington Presbyterian Church at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Willington Presbyterian Church, Mike Dorn, 1299 Simpson Street, Calhoun Falls, S.C. 29628. The family is at the home of her son, John Broome, 749 Savannah St., Calhoun Falls.
