He was born in Fayetteville, N.C., and had lived in Hollister since 1975, coming from Miami. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from the Putnam County Road Department after 12 years as a road grader. He had a love for animals which included horses.
He is survived by his wide, Velma McLaurin of Hollister; daughters, Ann Jannette Isbill of Ft. Worth, Texas, Terrie Ann Black, Kathleen Stephens and Brenda J. Albert, all of Palatka, Darrol L. Hoffmann of Daytona Beach, Christine L. Kimball of Oneida, N.Y.; brothers, Earl McLaurin of Lumberton, N.C., Jan McLaurin of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Celia Milee of Va.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home in San Mateo with Rev. Edgar Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Hollister Cemetery. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 3 Jan 1994.)
