John. He lived on 65 acres of land owned by his brother John, that was
located on the banks of the Wabash River on the opposite side from
Americus.
He was a devout spiritualist and believed in conversations with the dead,
mindreading, and fortune telling. This beliefs were passed on to his
daughter Lora and her husband, George Gwinn.

Louis Cass McKinley died a t St. Elizabeth hospital yesterday morning at
1:40 o'clock after a six weeks illness. His death was caused by a
complication of disease. Mr. McKinley was a member of an illustrious
family and was a first cousin of William McKinley, the martyred president
of the United States. Mr. McKinley was born in Miami County on September
14, 1849, and lived on a farm near Buck Creek for over fo rty years and
was a progressive and successful business man. His wife, former ly Miss
Susie Lane, died twenty-nine years ago. He leaves the following children:
Mrs. Clara Sterrett of Battle Ground, J. L. McKinley of Buck Creek, and
Mrs. Lora Gwinn of Macy.
He also leaves the following brothers, John, a member of the State
Soldiers Home; Douglass of Flora; William P. of Converse; and George W.
of Muncie.
Mr. McKinley was a believer in spiritualism and was an ardent democrat.
He was an honest and upright citizen, a man of rugged character and was
held in high esteem. He was one of the most influential men in the
community in which he lived and was useful as well as honored.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Elmer D. S. Boyer will officate and interment will be made in the Battle Ground Cemetery.
