Mr. Alex McKee died at the residence of Joseph Thompson on Saturday, Jan 9, of pneumonia. His funeral was held at Cutler on Monday. We are told that Mr. McKee was about 58 years at the time of his death. He has a great many friends in Sparta and vicinity who mourn his departure.

Alexander entered the United States with his family aboard the Ship "Republic." The ship landed at New York City on 12 Jul 1837.

In addition to Alexander and his wife Susan, three daughers are also buried in Cutler Cemetery. All three daughters were born and died in Randolph County, Illinois:
Mary M. McKee b. 1 Dec 1954 d. 21 Aug 1955
Margaret M. McKee b. 7 Jun 1861 d. 2 Nov 1873
Cora Bratten McKee b. Jun 1873 d. 2 Aug 1873
