Joan L. Emery, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 11, 2014.
Joan was born on May 13, 1930 in Valley City, North Dakota to R.K. McFarland and Ellen Brolander McFarland.
Joan graduated from Albuquerque High in 1948 and then went on to get her nursing degree in North Dakota in 1951.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Emery, her parents and sisters, Barbara Bumkens and Judith George.
Joan is survived by her sons, Mark and his partner, Viviane Renard, Steven and his wife, Julie Doak-Emery, Paul and daughter, Stacy Joan, Robert "Tony" and his wife, Maureen and life long friend, Lorena S. Knight.
Joan loved to fish and was an avid golfer. Joan was also a breast cancer survivor.
Services to be announced at a later date. Interment will be held at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 9:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association or The Cancer Society.
