George Conred McEachern, Jr., 82, entered into rest on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at his home. George was born in Aberdeen, N.C., on December 28, 1929, to the late George, Sr. and Annie Marie (Doudy) McEachern. He was educated through the Aberdeen, N.C., School System. Upon graduating from high school, he entered the United States Army and served his country as a firefighter. George retired from York International where he worked for 43 years. While working for York International he worked as a foreman and was President of the Labor Union. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. George was known for his love of fashion - he was a well dressed man. George was an active member of his church, Small Memorial AME Zion Church, until his health started to fail him. George leaves to mourn his loss three sons, Shawn Walker and wife, Pam of Harrisburg, Tony Orr and wife, Shardell of York, and Rev. James Dwight Taylor and wife, Demetrius of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four daughters, Georgette Simpson and loving friend, Toussaint Sexton, Lequilla English, Bridget Williams, and Carmen Frost and husband, Robert, all of York; a sister, Lequilla Morrison of Aberdeen, N.C.; four stepdaughters, Michelle King of Harrisburg, Ann and Peggy Williams, both of York, and Carolyn Williams of California; three special friends, Willie Jo Stanley, Alvin Lewis, and Raymond Crenshaw; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry Williams; a nephew, Brian Morrison; and a brother-in-law, William Morrison. The family would like to say thank you to Tom Sargent and Donna Myers of Wellspan VNA for going above and beyond and taking special care of their loved one. A Memorial Service will be on Friday at Small Memorial AME Zion Church, 401 S. Queen St., York 17401 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Smith, officiating. Boulding Mortuary Inc. is handling arrangements.
