Carol McDonald Carter, 79 died Monday, March 22, 2010, at her home in Williamsburg, VA.
She was a native of Chattanooga, TN and was a graduate of the Class of 1953 at the University of Chattanooga, TN where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, LTC William C. Carter, U.S. Army (Retired); son, Douglas C. Carter and wife, Tina Carter, of Newport News, VA; daughter, Kathryne E. Lemon and husband, Captain Douglas M. Lemon, U.S. Navy, of Smithfield, VA; grandsons, William Lake Carter, of Newport News, VA, Matthew Donald Lemon and David Charles Lemon, of Smithfield, VA; granddaughter, Sarah Helen Lemon, of Smithfield, VA; and sister, Betty Miller, of Irving, TX.
Carol was a member of Denbigh Presbyterian Church, Newport News, VA, and had served several terms as an elder.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested for the Denbigh Presbyterian Memorial Fund, or other favorite charities.
There is visitation today, March 24, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 12893 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 1 p.m. at Denbigh Presbyterian Church, Newport News, VA.
Interment will follow at Penninsula Memorial Park.
