Birth: Jan. 18, 1812
Harrison County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Jun. 22, 1893
Lewis County
Missouri, USA

Grandmother Nancy was born in Harrison Co., Kentucky, and she met and married Fielding McDaniel there, after which they made the trip to Lewis Co., Missouri, with all their children except the daughter who had died at the age of eleven months.

Nancy’s paternal ancestors came from Northern Ireland in 1738. Because of taxes they owed the King, George III of England, her great-grandfather, his uncles, and their father were forced to flee Ireland. Andrew McClure, Nancy’s great-great grandfather died at sea and was buried in the Atlantic Ocean.

Nancy’s mother, Hanna Cloud, was half-Cherokee Indian. Nancy raised 6 daughters and one son, our ancestor, William Knight McDaniel, and most of them remained in the Lewis Co. area.

On Thursday, June 22, 1893, Mrs. Nancy McDaniel in her eighty-second year. Having been born on January 18, 1812 in Harrison county, Ky., where she was married to Fielding McDaniel Feb. 9th, 1892. She was the mother of a large family of children, all of whom she lived to see married and established in homes of their own, and with the exception of Mrs. John Bland who died less than two months ago are still living to bury their aged and devoted mother. Mrs. McDaniel early in life, in 1840, felt it her duty to live a christian life and united with the Presbyterian church at Mount Pleasant, Ky., and ever tried as far as to her power to perform her christian duty to her God, her family and her friends. None knew her but to love and respect her for kindness and nobleness of heart. Shortly after coming with her husband and family to Mo. She helped to organize the Presbyterian church at Zion Hill in this county, where she was buried after her funeral was preached by her pastor, Rev. R. H. Latham of LaBelle, Mo. Indeed a good woman has passed away.
