Charles Raymond (Chid) McDaid, 70, of 113 West Franklin avenue, died at St. Joseph hospital, Highland, at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday. A former coal miner, the deceased had been employed at the Madison County Sanatorium for 15 years.
Born May 30, 1886 in Edwardsville, his parents were the late John and Sarah Brown McDaid. He was married to Miss Dora Dettmer, who preceded him in death in January, 1918.
The deceased is survived by two sons, Merle of Edwardsville and Leo of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Weaver of Edwardsville; two brothers, William of St. Louis and David of Staunton; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, William was killed in February, 1944, during World War II, while on duty with the United States Army in Manila, the Philippines.
The body is at the Straube funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday until the hour of service, 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. R.F. Tormohlen, pastor of Eden Evangelical and Reformed church, will officiate at the services.
Interment will be in the Maryville cemetery.
