WEYMOUTH — George J. McCue, age 81, died peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at home in the care of his family. George was a lifelong Weymouth resident who enjoyed his summers on the Cape in Dennisport.

Devoted and dedicated husband of 52 years to the late Catherine D. ( Johnson ) McCue. George is survived by his sons, Philip and his wife Peggie of Hingham, Jeff and his wife Mary-Ann of Weymouth and Kevin and his wife Dierdre of Weymouth. Mr. McCue was also the beloved grandfather of Jonathan, Maura, Ryan, Matthew, Erin, Michael, Billy, Brendan, Katie, Timmy, Abby, and Brigid. Mr. McCue was also the father-in—law of the late Sandra J. McCue. George was the son of the late Philip J. McCue and Helen (McCarthy ) McCue of Weymouth.

A graduate of Tufts University, George McCue was a 30 year educator in the Weymouth Schools, serving a lengthy tenure as principal of the Alice E. Fulton Elementary School. An accomplished musician, George enjoyed a loyal following in the South Shore and on Cape Cod. George McCue's keyboard skills, coupled with his unique sense of humor and original compositions mixing Irish ballads and political satire, made him a local celebrity at the Wayside Inn in Chatham and the Hereford House in Dennisport.

Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral home, 100 Washington St., Weymouth on Wednesday, April 27 at 8:45 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
