HAMPTON - Ellen M. McCue, 83, of Mace Road, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999 at Exeter Healthcare.

Born in Brooklyn, NY July 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Catherine T. (O'Donnell) McCue.

She was a graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn and also a stenotype school in Boston. She also attended the University of New Hampshire.

She worked as a Superior Court stenographer for the state of New Hampshire for 23 years, retiring in 1971 because of a disability. During World War II, she worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

She lived in Hampton since her retirement, coming from Portsmouth.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of its Catholic Women's Club, a former member of the Altrusa Business Women's Club in Portsmouth and member of the Friends of the Lane Memorial Library.

Survivors include three sisters; Kathleen Lincoln of Norwalk, CT, Rita Dufour of Baton Rouge, LA, and Venita Brown of Hampton; four brothers, James J. McCue, Jr. of Bar Mills, ME, Patrick McCue of Dover, Eugene McCue of Ft. Wayne, IN and Dr. John McCue of St. Cloud, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
