Carrie McConkey Becker.

Carrie McConkey Becker was born near Zanesville, Gurnsey county, Ohio, July 21st, 1844, and with her parents, John and Margaret McConkey, her sister, Margaret, and three brothers, John, Hugh and Robert, she moved to Belleville, Kansas, in 1855, where her sister. Margaret, and brother, Robert, died. From thence, in 1856 they moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska, where a few months later her mother, Margaret Frame McConkey, died. In 1859 her father, herself and two remaining brothers journeyed overland to Placerville, California. On September 28th, 1861, she was united in marriage with Samuel S. Becker and to this union two children were born, George E. Becker, of Pawnee City, Nebr., and May N. Bedea, of Table Rock, Nebr. In 1869 she, with her husband and children, moved back to Nebraska City, from whence, in May, 1870, they moved to a homestead near Table Rock, Nebr. where she resided for nearly forty-three years. During this time she took up the study and practice of obstetrics, in which work she was very successful and much loved by her many patients. She was take with her last illness on January 24, 1913, and passed away February 1st, at Ensworth Hospital, St. Joseph, Mo., to which place she was taken in an effort to save her life. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith, but had no church affiliation at Table Rock. She is survived only by her two children and her aged husband.

OBITUARY-


Carrie McConkey Becker was born near (unreadable)July 21, 1844. With her parents, John and Margaret McConkey, and three brothers, (unreadable) and Robert, and sister, Margaret she removed to Bellville, Kansas in 1855 where her sister Margaret and brother Robert died of typhoid fever. From thence in 1856 they moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska where a few months later her mother, Margaret Frame McConkey died, in 1858 her father with herself and two remaining brothers journeyed overland to Placerville, Eldorado County, California. On September 28, 1861, she was united in marriage to Samuel S. Becker, to this union two children were born, George E. Becker of Pawnee City, and May N. Bedea of Table Rock. In 1869 she with her husband and children returned to Nebraska City, from whence in May 1870 they moved to a homestead near Table Rock where she resided for nearly 13 years. During this time she took up the study and practice of obstetrics in which she was very successful and much loved by her many patients. She was taken with her last illness at her home June 24, 1913 and passed away February 1, 1913 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 10 days at Enaworth Hospital, St. Joseph, Mo. where she was taken in an effort to save her life. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith but no church affliction at Table Rock. She is survived by her aged husband and two children but mourned by many. On Sunday the funeral services were held at the home of her son G. E. Becker of Pawnee City conducted by Rev. C. P. W. Wimberly of Table Rock assisted by Rev. Moody of Pawnee City, the remains interred in the cemetery at Pawnee City.
