MRS. LYONS, 79, HOLYOKE RESIDENT MANY YEARS, DIES
Mrs. Gertie Lyons, a Holyoke resident for many years, passed away at about 7:30 p.m. last Thursday, February 4, at the Sheridan Manor Nursing Home here. She was 79 years of age and spent most of her life in Holyoke.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holyoke Christian Church and interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lyons was born in West Virginia on June 6, 1885 and came to Holyoke in 1890, residing here the rest of her life. She was a member of the Christian church and attended services regularly for many years.
Survivors include one son, Everett (Babe) Mahar, Benkelman, Nebraska; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mahar; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy St. John, Covina, California; and two grandsons, Mike Mahar, a coach at Wray, and Pat Mahar, who is a student at Nebraska University in Lincoln.
Among relatives preceding Mrs. Lyons in death were two sisters, Mrs. Oda Nye and Mrs. Nola Miller, both of whom lived here as children and young women.
