She was born Aug. 8, 1924 in Folkestone, Kent, England, the daughter of Stephen William and Elizabeth Jane Cook.
She had been a homemaker and lived in Shelbyville since she moved from England. She was a member of the Town & County Christian Church.
On March 16, 1945 she married James W. McCarty in Folkestone, Kent, England. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1977.
Survivors include a son, Stephen J. McCarty, Shelbyville; a daughter, Ann C. Blevins, Shelbyville; a brother, Harold Cook, Folkestone; two sisters, Lena (Cook) Steward, Wymondham, Norfolk, England and Anne Graves, Stoneville, West Australia; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carmony-Ewing Funeral Home, Harrison Stret, Shelbyville, Ind., with the Rev. Rod Beheler officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.
Memorials may go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
