Born Frances McCarthy in The Bronx, she was brought to Staten Island as a child and grew up in Midland Beach. She settled in New Brighton in 1948.
She graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy, Arrochar, and the Grace Institute for Secretarial Studies, Manhattan.
Ms. Burrell worked as a legal secretary in the offices of the Richmond County district attorney, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the North Shore Democratic Club.
She loved playing cards and bridge, gardening, and cooking.
Ms. Burrell attended St. Paul's R.C. Church, New Brighton.
Surviving are her son, William; her daughter, Elizabeth Tyndall; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Saturday from the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Church.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Grasmere.
