Donald R. McCarrick, 92, formerly of Aldan, a retired clerk and decorated veteran of World War II, died July 21 at his home in Chester.

Reared and educated in Natick, Mass., Mr. McCarrick was a highly decorated Army Air Corp veteran who served during World War II in New Guinea and Southern Philippines.

He received a Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze service star, and an Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.

Mr. McCarrick resided in Aldan for more than 49 years before moving to Chester in 2004. He was employed and retired from the Navy as a civilian at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, where he worked as a clerk.

Mr. McCarrick was a longtime member of Aldan Union Church and more recently attended North Chester Baptist Church.

He was a member of the Mayflower Society (DOTY), Sherlock Holmes Club in Lansdowne, Delaware County Field and Stream, Army Air Corp Meteorological Society, and the 1918 Society.

Mr. McCarrick was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Brooks McCarrick and husband of the late Flora T. Smith McCarrick, who died in 1987. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Survivors: Son, Alan D. McCarrick of the Garnet Valley section of Bethel; four grandchildren.

Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, North Chester Baptist Church, 2331 Providence Ave., Chester.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 2316 Providence Ave., Chester and 8:45-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial: Valley Forge Memorial Garden, King of Prussia.

Contributions: Missions Fund at North Chester Baptist Church, 2331 Providence Ave., Chester, PA 19013.
