Lois attended public school in Houston, graduating from Washington High School and earned her Bachelor's degree from Prairie View A & M University class of 1930 and a Masters degree from the University of Houston, the class of 1947. Throughout her life she was considered a strong educator and touched many lives in her 35 years of tenure in the Houston School District. Mrs. Brantley was a teacher at Douglas Elementary, Principal at Brock Elementary and Gregory Elementary until retirement on July 31, 1971. Among her professional affiliations on the local, state and national level were membership in the Eldorado Social Club, Riverside General Hospital, Tierwester Civic Association, Houston Retired Teachers Association, Prairie View Alumni Association and Director of the Candy Stripers. She was preceded in death by her husband Perry Brantley, one brother and two sisters.
