Death: Dec. 6, 1928

After a lingering illness of several weeks, Mrs. Nellie Mayo died at the home of her nephew, Mr. Frederick Griffith. Mrs Mayo was the 3rd daughter of our late Dr. Watt Tyler and his wife, Mrs Jane Tyler. She was born and spent her happy childhood at "Wilton." Mrs. Mayo was a cultured woman. She married Dr. John Mayo and with him made her home near Montross. Dr. Mayo died, leaving Mrs. Mayo a widow with two sons. Mrs. Mayo taught in the public schools of Virginia for twenty years or more. She is survived by her brother, Bishop Tyler, one son, Mr. John Mayo of New York. one grandson and many nephews and nieces.
