Born in Dunn, NC, the third daughter of Earl Thomas Maynard and Gladys Marie Jernigan, both of Dunn. Graduated from Dunn HS in 1943, and attended NC Woman's College in Greensboro for one year. After graduating, worked as a secretary and stenographer.
In 1961, married U.S. Army Capt. Raymond Deitch of Hazleton, PA, and raised a family with him while living on many stateside and overseas assignments (West Germany, Ft. Knox, Ft. Bragg, the Pentagon, Japan).
Longtime resident of Waynewood in northern VA and a member of the Hood Memorial Christian Church of Dunn. Died at Arden Courts Alzheimer's Assisted Living Facility in Annandale, VA. A loving and compassionate mother.
