Helen Christine Mayhew Barnett, 70, of 304 Jeanette Drive, Danville, died at her residence Monday, March 23, 2009. Born November 12, 1938 in Leasburg, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Irene Davis Mayhew and the late Hilton Herbert Mayhew. She was employed for 49 years with the law firm of Williams, Morrison, Light and Moreau as a legal secretary. She was married to Charles Wayne Barnett. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by two daughters, Lisa K. Jones and Cathy D. Barnett and two sons, Michael T. Kingery and Charles Wayne Barnett, Jr., all of Danville; one sister, Reba M. Tyree and her husband, Russell of Forest, four grandchildren, Jamie M. Kingery, Hunter L. Jones, Haley C. Jones and Connor C. Barnett, one great-grandchild, Kyndal R. Burke, and a special family friend, Neva Mills.
In addition to her parents, she predeceased by one brother, Lester H. Mayhew and a sister, Shelba M. Cook.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, 3995 Franklin Tpke, Danville, with the Rev. Neal Isom officiating. Interment follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville.
