Born in Ashland, Kentucky, Joy was a daughter of the late Frederick Allen Mayhew and Lucille Mitchell Mayhew. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Heard of Lake Wylie, daughter Heidi Heard-Davis of Lake Wylie, and granddaughter, Caroline Davis of Lake Wylie.
