Funeral services for three members of an Oklahoma City family who were shot to death early Tuesday morning will be conducted Thursday afternoon at the Guardian Funeral Home.
Private services for Mrs. Mary A. Mayes, 38, and her son, Paul Irving Daily, 17, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday with Reverend Lawrence Cobb, Pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, officiating. They will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mayes and her son were killed before dawn while they slept at the family residence, 1432 Northeast 11th, Oklahoma City, by her husband, Luther E. Mayes, 45, who later committed suicide in his room at the Huckins Hotel.
Mrs. Mayes is survived by a son, James Daily, of the home address, a daughter, Mrs. Alleene Eaves, 545 Southwest 32nd; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Goodpastor, Owensville, Kentucky.
Services for Luther E. Mayes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday with Reverend Walter Gilliam, pastor of St. Mark's Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Surviving are three sons, Charles Mayes, 1432 Northeast 11th; Luther E. Mayes, in the Navy at Annapolis, Maryland; Harry Lee Mayes, in the Navy stationed at New London, Connecticut; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Mayes, 3438 Northwest 16th; four brothers, Sterling L. Mayes, 1822 Northwest 28th; Asa Lee Mayes, with the Seabees in the Pacific; James L. Mayes, in the Army in Africa; L. Vernon Mayes, Moore; and three sisters, Mrs. Alvin G. Wood and Mary Osa Mayes, both of 3438 Northwest 16th; and Mrs. N. D. Gooch, Abilene, Texas.
