Marjorie "Marge" A. (Barnewolt) Mauch, 90, was born August 1, 1931 in Peoria, IL and passed peacefully at Lutheran Hillside Village of Peoria on April 19, 2022.

She was the daughter of Charles R. and Marguerite (Niemann) Barnewolt, who preceded her in death. She was married to William "Bill" Mauch on December 26, 1953. Together they shared a happy marriage for over 52 years until his passing in August of 2006. They had one son, William Jr., or "Little Bill", as he was called by family. He preceded her by just 13 days this April. Her only brother, Charles Barnewolt, Sr., also preceded her in death, along with two beloved nephews, Charles Barnewolt, Jr., and Brian Barnewolt.

Marge's sister-in-law, Agatha (Bateman) Barnewolt survives, along with two nephews, Michael and Jeffrey Barnewolt, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Marge spent her childhood in Peoria, IL and on the family farm, Robin's Nest, just north of Kickapoo. She was a graduate of Peoria Central High. After continuing at Western State College, she was employed by Great Central Insurance Co. of Peoria until her marriage to Bill. His career in the Motion Picture Industry then took her to Hollywood, where she raised their son, and was hostess to Bill's many friends and acquaintances, including the Reagan's, the McQueen's, and many more notable celebrities of those days. At family gatherings, when asked about her association with these legends, she would smile and say "They're just ordinary folks, who happen to be in the movies." Everyone was a friend to her, regardless of who they were. After retirement, Marge and Bill returned to Illinois, to Palatine, where they spent several more happy years together until Bill's passing. She finally returned to Peoria and resided at Lutheran Hillside Village until her passing.

Marge had a quick wit, an almost constant smile on her face, and an easy laugh that invited everyone into her joy of life. She was loving and kind-hearted to everyone she met. She couldn't meet anyone who, in a very short time, would not refer to her as "my dear friend Marge".

A funeral service is to be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at The Wilton Mortuary, 2101 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens beside her beloved husband, Bill. A luncheon will conclude the services with a location to be announced following the committal service.

Memorial donations may be given to the Azlheimer's Association, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631, or online at alz.org on the memorial page in remembrance of Marjorie Mauch.
