The Oklahoman, Sunday, Aug 3, 1941: --Mrs Nell Matson Brown, Sister of Former State Official, Dies--Mrs Nel Matson Brown, 63 years old, sister of late Judge Smith C Matson, assistant state attorney general and for many years judge of the criminal court of appeals, died Saturday at St Anthonys Hospital of complications which developed following a hernia operation nine days ago.
For the past two years, Mrs Brown has been house mother for Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at DePauw University, Green Castle IN, and had made her home during the summers with a daughter, Mrs Jack Harback, 324 NW 26 St.
She was born Oct 27, 1877 at Greencastle and came to Oklahoma City in 1932, making her home here until 1939. She lived many years in Chicago and was wife of the late Charles Walter Brown, writer and newspaperman in Chicago.
Mrs Brown was a Christian Scientist. Besides her daughter, survivors include a 5 month old granddaughter. Arrangements will be announced by Street & Draper Funeral Home.
