Lynda was born in Sacramento, Calif., at Mercy Hospital on October 8, 1945, to Walter and Melba Mason. She spent her early years in Sacramento graduating from Grant Union High School in 1963. She then obtained a bachelor of science degree from Utah State University in 1968 and a teaching credential from University of California, Davis in 1969. In 1970 Lynda was married to Richard A. Barnes and they have resided in Huntsville for most of the last 20 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames organizations. Lynda was employed with The Boeing Co. Lynda had an infectious sense of humor and was a good friend to many. She was an avid traveler and gardener. She also enjoyed the arts, theater and history and cared very deeply for her family. Her departure from our midst will be keenly felt by us all. Lynda is survived by her husband, Richard A. Barnes; mother, Melba Mason, of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Barbara Rogers, of Mesa; son, Richard A. Barnes Jr., and wife, Leslie, of Huntsville; daughter, Barbara A. Barnes of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; and grandsons, Nicholas R. Barnes and Christian B. Barnes of Huntsville.
