Jean Elizabeth Cherry Marzullo, 89, of New Kensington, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Harmar Village Care Center, Cheswick, where she was an Alzheimer's patient. She was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Tarentum, a daughter of the late John J. and Edna McCloskey Cherry. She was a 1938 graduate of New Kensington High School and was employed by Wear Ever upon graduation. She was employed by Logan Bank and Mellon Bank for 43 years and retired in 1991. She was an avid reader and spent many hours corresponding with friends. She was a benefactor of numerous charitable organizations, especially those that benefited children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Salvatore John Marzullo, in January 2000. Survivors include her sister, Dorothe (Robert) Dunn, of New Kensington; brother, John Robert (Mary Kathryn) Cherry, of LaGrange, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, with entombment in Union Cemetery, Arnold. Arrangements were entrusted to the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington.
