OTTUMWA — Lois H. North, 86, formerly of 335 Wildwood Drive, died at 3:30 a.m. May 6, 2014, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born September 25, 1927, in Ottumwa to Lester Harvey and Helen Louise Rogers Marts. She married John T. North Jr. on July 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1997.
A 1946 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Lois lived in Agency for 30 years before moving to Ottumwa in 1994. She had worked at Williams Dairy, Ottumwa Courier and Swinney’s Grocery in Agency. Lois was a secretary at Cardinal Schools for 20 years.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Lois was a member of Good Sams Camping Club and enjoyed spending winters in Texas. She was a correspondent for the Ottumwa Courier and Batavia Beacon.
Surviving are her children, John M. (Susan) North and Karen K. (Rick) Ferguson, both of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, Chad Larkin, Sarah Larkin, Kris North, Casey McCoy, April Ferguson-Shilkus and Cayle Ferguson-Rowland; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bob, Jim and Jack Marts.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback and Pastor Jim Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
