Manuel, a resident of Chimayo, was predeceased by his parents Federico Martinez and Epimenia Montoya-Martinez; son Archie Martinez; daughters: Julia Martinez and Frances Espinosa; sisters: Rosario Montoya and Isabel Martinez; and brother Pedro Jose Martinez.

Manuel was survived by his wife Yolanda Martinez; daughters: Barbara Romero (husband Charles) of Arroyo Seco and Veronica Garcia (husband Arnold) of Hernandez; granddaughters: Estrellita Barber of Chimayo, Consuelo Barber of Chimayo, and Destiny Spinks of Arroyo Seco; grandson John Barber; niece Virginia De La Cruz (husband Percy Trujillo) of Rio Chiquito; sister Angelina of Albuquerque, and many other relatives and friends.

Manuel was a hard working man who battled his illness for approximately 6 years. Manuel enjoyed going to the mountains and also enjoyed chopping wood. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.

Memorial Mass was on 28 Dec 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial followed in the Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo.
