Luz M. "Mama Luz" Gonzalez, 95, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Mama Luz was a member of Templo La Hermosa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Martinez, her husband, Higinio Gonzalez, a brother, Silvestre Martinez, her sons, Daniel, Ismael and Israel Pita Gonzalez, a granddaughter, Yolanda Orive and a great-grandson, Sammy Orive, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Aurora Julian Orive of Brownsville, seven sons, David Irene Gonzalez and Luis Lydia Gonzalez of San Antonio, Adan Raquel Gonzalez of El Paso, Abel Toni Gonzalez of Austin, Cain Helen Gonzalez of Las Vegas, Ildifonso Cindy Gonzalez of Leander, Roy Gonzalez of Brownsville, 31 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, Monday, January 28, from 1-5 p.m., in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 29, from 1-9 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m., in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, at Templo La Hermosa, 201 W. Jackson, Brownsville, TX with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
