Ann Helen Beranek was born on August 17, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Alois and Marie (Schovanec) Martinek. She was the youngest of eight children. Ann attended St. Agnes grade school and graduated from Alvernia High School with the class of 1929.
Upon graduation, Ann did secretarial work for several doctors. She later worked in the office of the Lyons Township Assessors where she served as deputy assessor for many years.
On November 23, 1940, Ann was united in marriage to Raymond G. Beranek. He preceded her in death in 1964.
Ann moved to Traer in 1988. She enjoyed traveling and painting. She was also an accomplished seamstress and milliner.
Ann died at the age of 101, on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and three sisters.
Ann is survived by her niece, Barbara Novotny of Traer and additional nieces and nephews.
Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Traer, with burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, with a 4:00 p.m. rosary.
