APPLING, Ga. - Deborah B. Marshall, age 49, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at her residence surrounded by family and friends. Debbie, as she was so affectionally called, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Henrietta Smith, and the late Thomas Howard. She was a life long resident of Appling, Ga. where she attended the Columbia County School System, graduating from Harlem High School in 1981. She was employed at The Columbia County Board of Elections Office for 29 years, diligently serving as The Executive Director from 2000 until 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at First Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 6269 Cobbham Road, Appling, Ga, 30802, with the Rev. Roscoe F. Perry, Pastor. The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2944 Scotts Ferry Road, Appling, Ga. 30802.
