Josephine Marshall Lee,88,passed away May 10,2004 of natural causes.A lifelong resident of Brazoria County,Texas.Josephine was born on May 11, 1915,in Hasima,near what is now Old Ocean,Texas,to Fred and Molly Ruth Buford Marshall.While serving on the Cemetery Board,she was responsible for having the BRICK COLUMN put at the entrance to the cemetery.Josephine earned her Master Certificate in floral design and horticulture and became a member of the Houston Judges Forum.While serving on the Board of the Brazoria County Historical Commission,she supported various museum projects.She was active in community beautification and was an original member and past president of Keep Brazoria County Beautiful.During this time,she organized the first Angleton Beautification Committee and suggested that the city build the gazebo in what is now Veterans Park.During her almost 89 years,she only had one day of serious illness and that was on the day she passed.She will be remembered by her family and friends as a lady of elegance and beauty.Survivors include her two children,Sam Lee II;Elizabeth Lee Woodward;three grandchildren,Blair Woodward;Dr.Lee Marshall Woodward;Elizabeth Lynne Lee;many other loving family and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband,Sam Lee;parents;brother,J.W.Jack Marshall;sisters,Addie Ruth Miller;Ruth Welch.Josephine was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Angleton since 1943,taught Sunday School for 20 years.Served as chairman of the Brazoria County Fair Queen coranation.She worked with Little League and Senior Girl Scouts and was a Red Cross volunteer.Final arrangements entrusted to Palms Funeral Home,Angleton,Texas 77515,(979)849-4343.Source:The Brazosport Facts Newspaper,05/12/2004
